Archive – September 20087 commentsAn American world view
Posted Sep-30-08 16:16:37 PDT Updated Sep-30-08 20:06:21 PDTI hear all the time how it’s a global economy.

And it is.

I’m hearing how the economic crisis is causing banks in other countries to fail and that it’s our fault.

Oh hell no it’s not.

This particular world view usually comes from the European community who bought these bundles of subprime risky high yield loans with the same irrational exuberance they’re accusing Americans of having when they bought those houses.

Yep. It is from these same countries that were saying that America and Americans have been living the “high life” way too long and now needed to pay for their sins.

Oh hell no. Again.

Americans have been paying a high price.

Our troops have been doing that in Iraq, Afghanistan, Europe, and Asia.

Over 4,000 family members are grieving the death of their love ones because these wars.

An we are in debt because of it.

And all these other countries that would “look down their noses” at the way American’s live their lives have profitted from the lives and money of American citizens.

Now the chickens have come home to roost.

I wonder who the time is really running out for. Our stock market is up again. 400 points just today. Even though there’s been no bailout.

Today investors weren’t jumping out of the windows of Wall Street. They were buying stock.

There are foreign investors who want to buy our banks. And at firesale prices. Saying they’d be better custodians of our banking institution than we would.

Folks, when world banks fail it isn’t because of the wild spending of the average American. It’s because world banks took a gambler’s risk and lost.

They took the high risky bet.

And they lost.

Now these countries want us to pay for their risky behavior. They want to blame Americans for their bet.

America.

Surely these folks who would tell us what bad business people Americans are were aware of the risks of buying this subprime debt.

It could have easily gone the other way and they could have made a bundle.

They didn’t.

My world view is American.

I’ve watched how we fight the wars of other countries. I’ve watched how our moms, dads, sons, daughters, our families and friends have fought and died to keep other countries free.

I’ve watched how our tax dollars have paid for those wars.

I have an American world view because I’m American.

And that mean taking up for yourself in the world markets.

I’m thinking that’s not such a bad thing.

We need a president who is an advocate for America.

First.

Considering how many jobs we’ve lost to other countries, I think the rest of the world can pretty much take care of themselves.

America is my home.

There is no place I have found better.

To raise my family.

To live my life.

I Love America.

I won’t give up on this country.

We won’t bankrupt this country.

We just won’t do it.

Time for an World Wide Economic summit.

I think that this bail out cost could be reduced and the cost shared world wide. It was a world wide party and looks like we all got drunk. Now we’re all gonna share the hang over.

Think of it as a way for other countries to say thank you for using our troops to fight their wars and reduce their overhead all these years.

Posted Sep-30-08 14:43:52 PDT Updated Sep-30-08 16:13:39 PDTWall Street traded up today (appx 400 points) Not down. Yes instead of jumping out of windows, traders bought stocks.

Without the bailout.

Everytime I hear the sky is falling today the next morning proves them wrong.

Why isn’t the US Congress talking about the actions the president of the United States can take without a bail out measure. Actions that the US Treasury can do with the rules they already have?

Europe is upset with the United States for not voting for a bail out. European countries are now having to bail out their own banks. I wonder how many shakey deals made by European banks would be paid for and covered up by a 700 BILLION dollar bailout here in the US.

With our tax dollars.

While Europe is busy telling America how terrible they are. Maybe Europe’s not doing so great themselves.

This just might have to do with our countries credit rating. Europes too.

Why isn’t our legislature or someone from our government, like maybe the President, working with the heads of state world wide so that no one country has to foot the bill for this mess.

Spread the costs.

Time for an World Wide Economic summit.

I think that this bail out cost could be reduced and the cost shared world wide.

A way to say thanks for other countries using our troops to fight their wars.

Wall Street is hanging tough.

How about we do too.

Let’s use this time to explore our common sense options.

First step.

What things can the president do with the aid of the US Treasury to shore up our economy WITHOUT the bailout here in the United States.

Gotta know when to hold ’em.

Right now it’s looking like knowing when to walk away is in the picture as well.

To the US Senators and US Representatives.

Dear Sirs or Madame,

If I wanted to be a citizen of a socialist government, I would move there. I am very happy to be an American. An American who loves this country and who votes. I’m not a rabble rouser or a terrorist. I’m an American citizen who loves their country. I pay my bills. I pay my taxes. And somehow manage to do this on time. Yet I am suffering from high fuel costs, high food, costs, and now it looks like higher taxes if this bail out goes through.

Now you tell me that my elaborate spending on such frivolous items as food for my kids, rent or a house note, gasoline to get to my job, and clothes on my back caused this economic crisis. Why did you send a stimulus check for us to spend to boost the economy and then turn around and say Americans spend like irresponsible children? This money came from tax revenues that you haven’t even collected yet.

Now who is spending money they don’t have Mr. Senator and Representive?

Excuse me but no one seems to be trying to bail me out and it’s my taxes paying for it.

Now I hear that the president is able help the banking system without a bail out.

In 39 days I will vote, but I will not vote for you if you vote yes on this bail out.

Thank you for voting NO on the bail out.

I’ve heard that there are members of the US House that doesn’t like the fact that Americans are calling, writing, and emailing their US Representatives and US Senators telling them they don’t like this bail out.

Well, guess what, we don’t like the idea of paying higher taxes and interest rates to fund this bail out.

I’m told that I don’t have a sophisicated world view. I thought about it and you know what?

My world view is American.

I’m thinking that’s not such a bad thing.

Gentleman start your engines

Extra credit as the World economic crisis will also be interesting to introduce in N Korea’s nuclear treaty.

Make sure to read the entire post before you take one of the links.

You might get lost otherwise.

Before I go one more step…

We’re all waiting for our traveling companions…

We all get tired of waiting…

But some folks really have it tough…

Prayers to the ladies and men in waiting…

When I have a sad day, I remember there are folks who have it tough.

Hugs are free. But they are also priceless.

You know–

Detour is always doing “detours of happy” so I thought I’d give it a try.

Good Morning World!!! I ‘ve seen a sunrise this day…

If the bail out comes back for vote I’ll be back commenting but otherwise?

I’m just gonna sit here and write.

Not answering emails or chatting.

Next?

LOL What do you do or say when someone calls you “white trash”. What do you do when someone takes the thing that makes you laugh?

The one bit in the day that quietly makes you happy?

No I didn’t loose my house or car. When it comes to money, we’re fine. But I kind of feel like I lost a friend today. A friend who got me to laugh even when I didn’t always want too. Not like David or Billy or Aunt Elsie.

This friendship never got off the ground.

People aren’t like batteries. When one person is gone you don’t replace them like a battery. Can’t replace them.

Eventually, I’ll write about it. Until then?

Here’s the point …

Click here > The gift of laughter. >>>>

I am reading about the concept of Detante. Peace treaties in modern times.

“…I dunno Blend. I take joy in original art. I really do. Without the existence of those things I wouldn’t experience their joy. That’s wheither I’m naturally joyous or not. Somethings elict an emotion or teach an emotion not yet experienced. The joy is in the things existence and it’s ability to stimulate happy…”

Sheesh He said poor white trash like the person was some kind of noxious weed. As if they were less than human. Chancers and trailer trash. “We hold these truths to be self evident. That all men (women) are created equal. They endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. Among those writes are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness…” I wonder what he thinks of the constitution.

Wonder what he’d think of folks here. What he’d think of me.

Perhaps Talloolah could give me some insight.

Ah well, for someone like me. I still believe that a friend is someone who likes you and you like them back. In the mean time? Thanks for the civics lesson.

Fight with peace.

That is our strength and our saving grace.

For me that is the fighter in the next song.

Takes alot of strength to face anger with peace.

The realization that we all live on this planet and that peaceful means of solving problems is in our global best interest.

I am reading about the concept of Detante. Peace treaties in modern times.

I know exactly what I was thinking.

It weren’t nice.

Where is America? Here’s one place.

I know folks like this. They did business with us. If you’d like to meet a fella who’s family lost everything including the family farm. If you’d like to talk to a fella who built his own house with a loan. I can introduce you.

They are good and kind folks.

If we are going to fix the economic crisis. We have to ask these folks and the others who are loosing their homes what they think. I hear the proposed bill wouldn’t help the folks loosing their homes. Wouldn’t give them bankruptcy protection.

We have to take our tractor another round. These are people not statistics. They need real answers not quick fixes that will only help some and last only a minute or two.

Our state went through a financial crisis. We’ve been here folks. Complete with the politicians claiming it was the end of time. The tax payers said no. No blank checks. No quick fixes. No more raised taxes nor spending until we find out where the money is going.

I do not hear how this is going to help folks keep their homes.

You know it’s funny but I was just thinking about that movie SwingVote. With Kevin Costner.

Interesting movie

Anyway.

Where is America for you?

Tell me. No heck tell congress. Tell them who America is.

There are other videos of folks out there in world.

There are no wrong answers.

Not if it is truly who you are and who the people around you are.

We the people.

Please tell me who you are.

My mother got all over me about how tough things are in the world. Well then let’s say something. Congress needs to know right now. They are busy spending our tax dollars and I think they could use some common sense help. I really truly do.

Where is America for you?

Home of Author Ann and 12 dogs and a blog.

An answer to a question or two.

My mom is so proud.

Magic Realism. We made the term up to describe 12 dogs. It looks real but it’s magic.

What is 12 dogs and a blog?

12 dogs is a writer’s journal. I write about fact and fiction here. If you don’t know which is which? Ask.

I have my comments turned off for a reason. I am alway rewriting what I write here. Your comment might look strange if I do. That would mean having to go find you and explaining. Sometimes? I even recycle the post. That also means more explaining. No fun for either of us.

It’s not a book Hula.

(Thank you for the video Hula. Especially the last part. I hope that he is nice.)

Just a wee journal in the middle of the internet. Kind of.

It’s what I want it to be and I can change my mind as much and as often as I like.

And in a way it’s a conversation too.

It is mine.

Do you go back and read comments on old blogs?

I do. So comment away even if the post is old. Just give me time to find it or email so I’ll see it. You have to have an ebay account though. And I go back and read old blogs too. Sometimes to read the blogs and repurpose them. More on that below.

Please note, like life, this blog is under constant revision until that final ultimate rewrite.

I’m going to heaven people so I’m gonna keep living my life until I get it right.

Same for this blog. Rewrite till I get it right.

Just not like Sysiphus.

Oh and about those blue links. This blog could be read sequentially like a diary but if you do that you’ll miss the fun. You see all these blue links make up a story. It’s interactive and can change depending on which links you take and in which order. Plus I revise and write alot so the story can change completely. Posts appear and then disappear. The most fun I ever had was a post that changed over night. First a word and then a sentence until the next moring all that was left was a poem telling of the nights adventures. LOL I don’t get out much and this is my fun. And like the real me two things will become evident. One? I get bored easily. Two? I get bored easily. LOL I guess I should add a third comment. I have a kind of weird sense of humor. I think hemorrhoids are funny. It’s my neigbors fault.

What is this traveling companion of which you talk about?

Traveling companion is a literary device. It’s like having a conversation with the person who you would like to grow old with. An ideal. I’ve met a few that have come close. I really have. But, things just didn’t seem to work out. However, that may just have changed. You see there’s this guy…

Funny.

As for my real live? Well I have a bit of stuff. And I have a friend or two. A son. And there really are dogs. I live in a kind of strange place. The people are not city people. They value different things.

Like can you use a wrench and a chainsaw.

That’s been interesting.

I’m not a chain saw kind of person. There are folks who can put up a fence faster and better than I ever could. I believe in stimulating the economy by getting them to put up my fence.

Not a fan of DIY.

Me? Well…

If 12 dogs is a writer’s journal and you write fiction as well as fact? Which characters are real and which aren’t?

Well? WB is real and so is Pup. My Great Aunt was real and so was WB’s brother. Auntie Slacker is a “character” a real mess and a half. She’s that in a good way. And yes she is real. Billy was real. IrishDavid is real. JRussellmix is an alterego of someone not me. Hannah Murphy, Well that’s a long story. Taloolah is real. At least as real as someone you meet on the internet can be. I don’t know her name or really where she lives. So well such is the odd reality of Blogland. The thing about 12 dogs is that if you don’t know you should ask. If you assume you could find yer self in a kind of Alice and Wonderland kind of place.

At this moment? I miss Newt.

That’s the thing about Blogland. I don’t know Newt. I know what Newt wanted me to see. An image like a photograph but without captions. Same could be said about Taloolah. I see what they want me to see. Sometimes.

I once had someone say that Blogland is fun. Blogland is an addiction. Blogland is a fantasy. Blogland is real.

Guess it all depends on your perspective.

I noticed that your comments are On but Hidden. Do you even read your comment section. Why comments Hidden?

Well as I mentioned, the posts can be edited at anytime. I pull up old posts like you would pull up old memories. Re use the post. Even repurpose the post. This may make your comment irrelevant. I might hurt your feelings. And, with certain exceptions, I hate to delete.

So I’ve turned the comment section into a kind of virtual eBay answering machine. Type a message. It will disappear but I’ll see it. I’ll try to respond to your messages. That is if I’m here. It’s okay to post on the blog in question but better to post on this post or the most current one. I’ll see it.

I used to hope that I’d get a comment from my traveling companion but I’ve stopped doing that. A part of me still hopes. I am after all an Optimist underneath all this Pessimism. Maybe that is what a Pragmatic is really. An adult Optimist.

I haven’t given up.

What you say might alter the story somehow. Who knows.

But note. I’m not having to write everyday. Just when I want to.

This is good but it may take me awhile to respond to your comment.

So you’ll know.

Who is Author Ann?

Ah, AuthorAnn. A little bit of Pilgrims Progress? Nope. A traveler through Dante’s Inferno. Well somedays…. Author Ann. Wellllll. AuthorAnn is real. I will say that much. Like the blog she’s a work in progress. She’s nice. Pay’s her bills. Believes in God and Oprah I guess. Has happy days and disasters. She’s the good angel on my shoulder. The good that keeps me from measuring the distance between the bridge and the river. The me that I should be and try to be.

But then so is AuntieSlacker and Hannah Murphy too.

Not multiple personalities. Not even close. Just different ways to look at life. Different points of view. Me on different days and during different periods of my life.

Author Ann on my right shoulder helps me be the good in life. She is my MiddleAge with Pup. Hannah on my left shoulder is the human of life. Hannah is too nice to be a little devil although on her bad days…She is my youth. And in the middle where the two combine?

The woman I am and hope to become.

Pramatic, romantic, optimistic, pessimistic, loyal yet self interested, a really good friend who is actually good at life, sometimes… but not limited to those things and under constant revision just like this blog.

I am Auntie Slacker.

And this is?

Then read the dedication if you want to and then go back here >In case this is your first visit to Virtual. Just think of 12 dogs as one of those rides at the state fair that spin you around, makes ya dizzy, might even make you upchuck, but for some reason you get right back on and do it all again. Best to you. Ann.

Dedicated to

WB, Pup, Newt and that fella on the LateLateShow for getting me to laugh again.

That last bit could be a play on words but it’s not. He and his writers really did get me to laugh and write again.

I’m grateful.

Even though last night I thought he was a horse’s ass.

A cute horse’s ass.

But still?

A horses ass.

In case he’d ever lower himself to read my little blog here in the middle of this great big virtual ocean.

Best regards,

Ann

So. Like every night that I attempt sleep, I turn on the LateLateShow with Tv’s Craig Ferguson. I laugh and for a little while? I get to remember the happiness of the friends who have gone. I forget the pain of their absence and I remember the joy.

Only last night? I am reminded of the loss.

Then this morning?

I get an email that has me going what the heck.

So here’s are words you can take to the bank.

I for one will miss you.

Human foilbles and all.

There comes a time when leaving stops being easy and starts being just painful. Comes a time when you say I’d kind of like to keep my friends thank you very much.

For the person who sent me the email?

You’ve got mail.

I hope that you notice the part where it says that I considered you part of my life. I don’t like labels here because they don’t exactly fit life but the word “friend” or there abouts is mentioned. This is why I don’t get close to people for a bit. Call me silly but I’m not a big fan of getting hurt. And unlike fantasy dates? I have real feelings that frankly can be hurt. When I call someone friend I actually use the term as intended. That’s why I take so friggin long to use it. When I use the terms “love” and “family” and “home”?

I mean them.

And now an open letter to TV’s Craig Ferguson.

Yeah, I know it’s a long shot that he reads 12 dogs but ya know what the heck.

Alot of folks have taken to you with open hearts, Mr. Ferguson. They haven’t put you on a pedestal. They actually like you. I know they didn’t do the work for you. Instead they tivoed or stayed up to watch a fella and gave you the courtesy of giving you some of the time in their day. Yes darlin’ man. You got paid for your time. Your audience? They did it because they actually liked what you had to say. So I wonder. When you’re busy being a horses ass. What do you think the reaction should be?

Are you the fella who shouldn’t be put on the pedestal?

Because while I can’t speak for the rest of the world? I never put you on one to begin with. Quite the opposite. I was just grateful to have a chance to laugh. Someone in this crazy political enviroment said what we’d been saying here. They’re politicians. They work for us or they’re supposed too. I don’t need word from Mount Olympus. Frankly, the folks I’ve seen who would have me put them on a pedestal or who’ve acted God in my life are a right fcuk up. The friends and family who’ve actually cared about me and my life aren’t in anyway interested in being on a pedestal. They want to walk next to me not Lord it over me. That’s why they are my friends. I take along time to get to that point of friendship. Takes even longer to put someone up on a pedestal.

But if you would read this? I’d ask you one thing. Why do you think you got so angry? Angry enough to bellow, yes bellow, the words “…I don’t care…” See I have a theory. If you didn’t care you wouldn’t have bothered to say the words. You don’t owe anyone the time.

Maybe you should come off you’re own pedestal?

Before you fall off an break something.

Then come laugh with us.

Because darlin’ sometimes the laughing is worth more than all the money and power life can give.

I know.

Kind of like Midas eh?

Now people. I’m going to try again.

Read this

Sleep perchance to dream

Only please. When you read it, I’m not saying good bye. I’m just trying to get a little sleep. I mean it’s been a stressfull week. I think we all could use alittle.

Oh and 12 dogs maybe fiction but it’s not fantasy.

When it comes to relationships and sex?

I like mine the old fashion way.

Real.

And please, embrioder this on a pillow, “Not everything I write is about you Gentle Reader. Sometimes Author Ann has a life out in the real world.”

A messy, compilcated life that right about now suxs.

Fantasy relationships, like alcohol, do not help.

LOL Tryork. I read your comment asking someone to come out from behind their avi.

An “Iron”y , incase you ever read this-

For someone who’s always talking about 12 dogs and a blog being a writer’s journal? About it being the home of fiction as well as fact so it’s better to ask first?

I’ve never hidden behind my avi.

I’ve always used the terms “friend” and “family” the way one would use it in it’s old fashion way.

And if I call someone friend?

I meant it.

I’m going to take that comment that I’m a writer as a compliment. A lifejacket in a very, very, very rough ocean of life. I really did need to hear that even if you didn’t mean it.

Thank you even if you meant it sarcastic.

You and your wife are welcome here anytime. And I am delighted if you’ve found home.

Oh and if anyone is wondering?

Taloolah is a real live person. Only once or twice was it a literary device. I almost lost a friend when I did that. May still have.

Just funny that the one blog that made such a big deal of being fiction probably was more honest that the ones saying they were fact.

Now that is an “Iron”y.

Sorry I miss your chats Tryork. Maybe someday I’ll be smart enough to take part.

Best regards,

Ann

Varuka and Prince. The reason why 12 dogs can be rather difficult to read is because a part of if has been a conversation with friends. Part of it has been written to my son. Part of it was a kind of dialog with myself. You are only seeing 1/2 of the conversation.

And part of it is a kind of conversation with a someone who I’ve yet to meet.

My traveling companion.

If you don’t understand it? It’s really okay. They’re words that you aren’t meant to hear. That’s not mean. Varuka I think you’ll understand this. It’s a song to find the home that I know is out there.

Think the movie “August Rush”. Only I’m looking for “home” instead of parents. John Burroughs said it best in his poem, “Waiting”.

Serene, I fold my hands and wait,
Nor care for wind, nor tide, nor sea;
I rave no more ‘gainst time or fate,
For lo! my own shall come to me.

I stay my haste, I make delays,
For what avails this eager pace?
I stand amid the eternal ways,
And what is mine shall know my face.

Asleep, awake, by night or day,
The friends I seek are seeking me;
No wind can drive my bark astray,
Nor change the tide of destiny.

What matter if I stand alone?
I wait with joy the coming years;
My heart shall reap where it hath sown,
And garner up its fruit of tears.

The waters know their own and draw
The brook that springs in yonder height;
So flows the good with equal law
Unto the soul of pure delight.

The stars come nightly to the sky;
The tidal wave unto the sea;
Nor time, nor space, nor deep, nor high,
Can keep my own away from me.

For fun I think I’d like to keep a friend instead of loose one. Now I’ve got a few things to do. Like take down the winter clothes. Feed the dogs. And write that column. I just don’t want to loose friends and happy faces in the process.

LOL at this moment I’m crying, eating a banana, and writing on this stupid blog.

Now I’m laughing at the humor of it all.

Hurry up home not house husband not spouse. I’m kind of loosing my faith that you exist.

Your friend,

AuthorAnn

Comments off I think there’s been way too many words spoken already. A little peace and quiet would be nice this afternoon. Unless you are Talloolah. Talloolah? You’ve got mail. Or you are my family. For you there is email.

Everyone else? Would you please hug your friends?

I need all the positive Karma I can get.
